How much less would a new model cost to run than the one you have? Operating savings only.
Find it on the appliance's yellow EnergyGuide label or in its manual, or measure it with a plug-in energy meter over a few weeks and scale up to a year. We do not guess figures for old models.
Savings = (old kWh per year − new kWh per year) × your electric rate × years. The rate stays the same for every year. Real use depends on your home and habits. Not included: purchase price, delivery, installation, disposal or recycling, rebates, repairs, and water or gas costs. For gas dryers, use the model pages, which price gas separately. EPA figures for washers include heating the wash water with an electric water heater.
